Norris Point, NL

This little village is defined by the ferry & fishing docks, the museum, and the waterfront pub, but what drew me was the water, the ancient rock, and the evergreens clinging to the rock as they do in most of Newfoundland.

It was September 15th and the tourists were mostly gone.

Along the coast just south of Bonavista, NL.

The clear, cold, clean, North Atlantic. Love it. Could have sat here for hours!

Bonavista, NL

This town impressed me with it's energy and growth. There's a lot to do and see here, and I hope to return one day. Many new buildings and homes being built in the old style, and many older homes and businesses are being refurbished. Of course that is not what always excites me as a photographer. I seek out the older weather beaten items and natural scenes.

An old bench along the breakwater.

Interior of an old beaten wooden rowboat.

Port Union, NL.

Located on the rugged shores of Trinity Bay, Port Union is a small community making a big effort to restore its heritage buildings and celebrate its unique contribution to the history of Newfoundland.

The only "union-built town" in North America, Port Union was created in a flurry of construction starting in 1916. It was to be William Ford Coaker and the members of the Fishermen's Protective Union's "capital" as they built a new type of commercial and economic footing for Newfoundland's fishermen.

Two scenes at Bay Robert's, NL.

A lovely aluminum stairway to a pebble beach.
I don't know either ;-).

A dingy wearing the traditional NL provincial colours.

Harbour Grace, NL

The town has a number of fine old stone buildings and several under refurbishment.

Along Hwy 80 NL, one of my favourite drives.

Another ubiquitous fishing boat; at Green Harbour.

Salted cod drying in the sun and wind.

Colourful fishing sheds, this time without a trailer parked adjacent.

The common red rock of NL and clear, cold Atlantic.
