Shoreline Heritage Trail Post #2.

Scenes along the trail which is truly delightful and well maintained.

May 22, 2016 I walked the Shoreline Heritage Trail in Bay Roberts, NL. This is the first of several posts devoted to it.

There are some interesting beaches SW of Placentia, getting to them however is a scramble and not for the faint of heart!

Along the Pumbly Cove ( love that name, it's something one would expect to see in Winnie the Pooh-;) Nature Walk near Norman's Cove, NL. The cold clear water of the N. Atlantic and the beaches of rounded rocks, a testament to the power of wind and water.

At the Placentia Government Wharf. A well designed and equipped fishing boat and another fisherman with a sense of humour.

The ocean and the streams on the Avalon Peninsula are crystal clear and contain a plethora of interesting and colourful rock.

Ponds.

In NL there are no lakes, only ponds. Ponds everywhere because there is so much rock and  so little drainage. Ponds of all sizes. Some tiny such as the first photo and increasing in size as in the second photo, on up to ponds many kilometres long. Even the road signs reflect this. You'll see signs along the highway for Gordon's Pond, or Three Island Pond. Every standing body of water is a pond. It's one of the charming cultural characteristics visitors will find here. Oh, and most have trout as the father and son fishing in the second photo informed me.

Another RDF day, so what's a photographer to do? Perhaps find some colourful wet rock?
